This time the diagram illustrates two scenarios for Wireless Long Distance Calls.
Scenario 9
Wireless long distance call outside ported area - Non-conforming IXC:
- Mobile Caller F calls long distance to Caller
C from inside or outside the MSA.
- Commercial Mobile
Radio Service (CMRS)-1 is not obligated to determine the LRN, and
therefore routes the call to an IXC, typically via a tandem.
- IXC-2 is the designated N-1 carrier, and has
the responsibility to determine the LRN by performing a "database
dip" and routing the call to LEC-2. However, because IXC-2 does
not have LNP/LRN capability, IXC-2 will rely on LEC-1 (or LEC-2) to
terminate default routed traffic, and LEC-1 (or LEC-2) will perform
the actual N-1 function.
