Product Description
Adjacent Collocation is available where space is exhausted in an existing CenturyLink Wire Center and your request for Physical Collocation cannot be accommodated. In these circumstances, where technically feasible, CenturyLink will make space available in an existing adjacent structure or if feasible allow you to build or place a structure adjacent to CenturyLink premises.

Terms and Conditions
Terms and conditions are included in your Interconnection Agreement, if those terms differ from those in this web page, then the terms of your Interconnection Agreement may prevail.

Adjacent Collocation will be in an existing CenturyLink controlled environmental vault, controlled environmental hut or similar structure on or under CenturyLink owned, leased or otherwise controlled property contiguous to a CenturyLink Wire Center. Third Party lease arrangements are not considered Adjacent Collocation.
If space is not available in an existing CenturyLink structure, CenturyLink will permit you to construct or otherwise procure such an adjacent structure to place on property owned, leased or otherwise controlled by CenturyLink. The structure will be subject to Occupation Safety Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), federal, state and local safety and maintenance requirements. You as the owner or leasing party must obtain all variances and/or permits and approvals from the local municipality and/or other governing body. You are responsible for all engineering and installation activities as well as costs associated with placing the structure.
If a new structure is to be constructed, the interval for CenturyLink's provisioning of the Adjacent Collocation will be developed on an Individual Case Basis (ICB), to account for the granting of permits or Rights of Way (ROW) and your construction of the adjacent structure.
To construct an Adjacent Collocation structure on or under CenturyLink-owned property at a premise site, you must submit a Collocation Application form. In addition to any necessary governmental approvals, CenturyLink's approval of the application is based, in part, on concurrence that the location of the adjacent space structure will not conflict with:
- Existing structures
- Future building or site expansion plans (five years out)
- The performance of CenturyLink or other telecommunications systems, including microwave and wireless
- Above or below ground utilities or cabling serving the wire center facility, including access for excavation or hoisting equipment
- Existing utility and other easements
- Traffic flow, parking, or ingress/egress of the building or property, including fire truck access
- Site grade, drain, or retention
- Maintenance of building and grounds
- Local, state and federal laws, including environmental permits and ordinances for "minimum set-backs"
- Safety of personnel or the protection of property
- Site acceptance by the community, if applicable
Exact locations and spacing for individual or multiple structures on the property are evaluated and approved on an ICB and will require field verification for CenturyLink concurrence and approval of the Collocation Application. Scheduling of the site evaluation/feasibility study is subject to the availability of retained architectural/engineering consultants' resources at the time of the application and joint feasibility visit. The cost of this site evaluation or feasibility study includes:
- Evaluating the site by CenturyLink Real Estate Architectural/Engineering Consultants for locating adjacent space structures, determining the amount of land assigned per structure and preparing a site plan with CenturyLink-approved locations. The site plan is used by you to obtain approval and permits from the local building jurisdiction
- If required, a land survey of the property to re-establish property lines and easement locations
You are responsible for the construction, including the procurement of all, utility, building and zoning permits as designated by the municipality and certifying such compliance in writing to CenturyLink, prior to any turnover of CenturyLink space for construction or placement of your structure on CenturyLink property. If building or zoning regulations are not met, and you do not cure such deficiencies within the required timeframes, CenturyLink will seek to remove the structure based upon municipal orders or as otherwise allowed and/or required by law. Costs of such removal and actions will be borne by you.
You are responsible for any damages to CenturyLink property that may result from construction of your adjacent structure. Additionally, you are responsible for any fines, penalties and expenses for zoning, environmental, safety, sanitation, property infringement, noise, quality of life or property violations or lawsuits associated with the structure, its associated power, and any additional tax assessment levied on CenturyLink as a result of the adjacent structure.
If you require Digital Service Level 1 (DS1) or Digital Service Level 3 (DS3) terminations with your Adjacent Collocation, the DS3 terminations will be provided over a fiber connection between the Adjacent Collocation and the CenturyLink Wire Center. You are responsible for providing the necessary multiplexing in the adjacent structure and the CenturyLink Wire Center.
CenturyLink will accommodate Alternating Current (AC) power requests to the structure from the premises power source, if feasible to do so. You can also provide your own AC power plant or contact the local power utility to obtain power. CenturyLink will provide power and Physical Collocation services and facilities subject to the same nondiscrimination requirements as applicable to any other Physical Collocation arrangement.
You may also place your own Direct Current (DC) power supply (if needed) in your own structure, or have CenturyLink provide the DC power supply.
You may obtain power for your new structure as follows:
- Arrange for your own AC service to the Adjacent Collocation structure direct from the power company and place your own DC facilities (batteries and rectifiers) in your site.
- Arrange for your own AC service to the Adjacent Collocation structure direct from the power company and have CenturyLink place DC facilities (batteries and rectifiers) in your site.
- Have CenturyLink provide, from the Central Office (CO) the AC leads and you place your own DC facilities at your site.
- Have CenturyLink provide both the AC leads from the CO and the DC facilities in your site.
For the last two options above where CenturyLink is providing the AC leads, power cable running to your structures on CenturyLink property will require trenching and conduit placement for the cables involved.
You will be required to provide connectivity between the adjacent structure and the CenturyLink Wire Center using an entrance facility.

You are responsible for all alarming and monitoring within your structure. CenturyLink assumes no responsibility for protection or liability for damages to the structure you own due to theft, vandalism, fire, moving vehicles or natural disasters.
You, the unions involved and public safety officials must handle access during work stoppage activities.
CenturyLink will not impose safety and engineering requirements that are more stringent than the safety or engineering requirements CenturyLink imposes on its own equipment.

Adjacent Collocation charges are based on the information you provided on your Collocation Application form and the work to be preformed. The charges for Adjacent Collocation are developed on an ICB, depending on your specific needs and the unique nature of the available adjacent space (e.g., existing structure or new structure to be constructed). Below are charges that typically appear on an Adjacent Collocation quote:
- DS3 Coax Feed
- Power costs for AC feed usage (if purchased from CenturyLink)
- Pro-rated Building and Grounds Maintenance charges
- Rent
- Site evaluation/ feasability study
- Special Construction for conduit

Product Prerequisites
If you are a new CLEC and are ready to do business with CenturyLink, please view Getting Started as a Facility-Based CLEC. If you are an existing CLEC wishing to amend your Interconnection Agreement or New Customer Questionnaire, additional information is located in the Interconnection Agreement.

If space for Physical Collocation in a particular CenturyLink premises is not available at the time of your request, you can request that CenturyLink conduct a feasibility study for Adjacent Collocation for that premises site. Information regarding this process is described in your Interconnection Agreement.
Submit an Adjacent Collocation Application form to order Adjacent Collocation at a particular CenturyLink premises. The form is located in the Applications and APOT forms table in the Collocation - General Information.
If a new structure is to be built, CenturyLink will need, in addition to the information provided on the Adjacent Collocation Application form, the following:
- AC power requirements (voltage phases and currents) if CenturyLink is to provide AC power
- Dimensions of your owned or leased structure
- Weight and material specifications of the structure and architectural diagrams
- DC power requirements (voltage, current, site plan location, and load in watts) if CenturyLink is to provide DC power

If a new structure is built or placed, a Land Space Feasibility study is performed subsequent to the preliminary on-site visit. A joint visit between you and CenturyLink is an integral part of understanding your land space needs. If the feasibility study results are positive, you are given an approved site plan. The site plan assigns the specific land location on the premises and provides the basis for your architectural and engineering design regarding structure location and utility service or CenturyLink power service constraints.
Once you obtain final engineering design approval from local building jurisdictions, and a construction permit, you must resubmit this information to rfsmet@centurylink.com to obtain CenturyLink approval to begin construction on CenturyLink premises. Land assignments are made first come first served and must adhere to CenturyLink site selection criteria.
The ability to request Collocation - Synchronization Testing Overview is also available with Adjacent Collocation if you are placing a DSLAM at your Adjacent Site.

Provisioning and Installation

You are responsible for the maintenance and repair of your equipment located within your Adjacent Collocation space.

CenturyLink AMSC generates a ticket, which will then be distributed to the CenturyLink Design Services Center (DSC)
