Description Of Change |
An edit to validate PIC and LPIC values would eliminate errors in various OSS's and reduce provisioning time.
Provisioning errors and service order errors occur when invalid PIC/LPIC values are submitted on a LSR that flows through. By validating PIC and LPIC values in IMA only valid values would be used on flow through service orders, which would increase flow through and the percentage of automatic FOCs.
This enhancement was identified during a review of flow through errors.
This requested change would affect both IMA EDI and IMA GUI
IMA currently edits the PIC and LPIC values to verify that they are numeric (codes with less than 4 numeric are padded with zeros), "NONE", or "DFLT". IMA is not validating that the PIC or LPIC represent valid long distance carriers for specific central offices (long distance carrier participation is at the LATA level).
The project objective is to edit the PIC and LPIC fields to ensure that they contain valid data values for the central office and to replace invalid data values with valid values, to reduce the number of PIC and LPIC errors, and the number of orders dropped to manual. The edits that exist in IMA today are not sufficient and as a result a significant number of orders are dropping to manual due to PIC and LPIC errors. This requires time and resources during the provisioning process to research invalid PIC and LPIC values. Provisioning, FOC interval, and flow through are adversely affected.
