QWEST BRINGS NEARLY 600 NEW JOBS TO UTAH

NORTH LOGAN, Utah, Feb. 21, 2006 – CenturyLink Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced the opening of a new customer sales and service center in North Logan, Utah. In the next several months, CenturyLink will hire nearly 600 employees to fill the positions created.

“This is an exciting announcement for Cache Valley and the entire state of Utah,” said Governor Jon Huntsman. “As we continue to transform our state’s economy, we appreciate Qwest’s contributions to broadening the economic opportunities in northern Utah and throughout our state.”

The new sales and service center is part of Qwest’s Spirit of Service™ initiative to effectively meet customer demand in the competitive market, and provide a consistently high-quality customer service experience. The center will handle calls from CenturyLink customers throughout the company’s 14-state local service region. In addition, employees in the center will focus on delivering complete and personalized service to CenturyLink customers.

"Utah is a great place to live and work,” said Jerry Fenn, CenturyLink president for Utah. “I'm pleased that we will be making North Logan and the Cache Valley home to this new CenturyLink operation. It will bring a rich heritage of excellence to our CenturyLink Spirit of Service."

North Logan was selected as a location for the call center not only because of the outstanding facility but also because of the people. The Cache Valley area has a substantial workforce with considerable experience in the telecommunications industry.

“On behalf of my colleagues on the city council, I am pleased to officially welcome CenturyLink to North Logan,” said North Logan Mayor Cary Watkins. “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership.”

The hiring process will begin next month, and the sales and service associates will go through a 12-week associate training program. Positions will also be available for supervisors and human resource specialists. Many of the positions will be represented by the Communications Workers of America and will include a benefits package.

Interested candidates will have the opportunity to apply and interview for these CenturyLink positions at Bridgerland Applied Technology College West Campus 1400 North 1000 West in the coming weeks. Specific details concerning the hiring process will be announced at a later date.
