QWEST FOUNDATION BOOKS DONATION TO DAVIS EDUCATION FOUNDATION “DAVIS READS” PROGRAM

Program Promotes the “Greatest Gift”

SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 21, 2007 – The CenturyLink Foundation today announced its support of the Davis Education Foundation “Davis Reads” program with a $4,000 contribution. The Foundation’s gift will help further the “Davis Reads” goals of increasing the number of citizens who read, who model the joy of reading and who become life-long readers.

“In our fast-paced world, taking the time to read is becoming rare for many people,” said Jerry Fenn, CenturyLink president for Utah. “The ‘Davis Reads’ program helps encourage people to take a few minutes to pick up a book and read. If children see adults modeling that behavior, we hope it will encourage them to do the same. I’m glad the CenturyLink Foundation is part of this program.”

“In order for us to build a generation of children who are literate, we must be passionate about reading,” said W. Bryan Bowles, Davis School District superintendent. “The gift of reading may be the greatest gift we can give the ensuing generations of our children. I appreciate the support of the CenturyLink Foundation in helping to pass this gift to our community and our future.”

The theme for this year is “Everyone’s Hero: When Words Take Flight, Heroes Are Born.”
