Five Oregon Teachers Win CenturyLink Technology Grants

Five teachers or teams of teachers in Oregon recently won $50,000 in technology grants from the CenturyLink Foundation for innovative classroom technology projects. The program, in its second year in Oregon, is funded by the CenturyLink Foundation and administered by the Organization for Educational Technology Curriculum and the Oregon Department of Education.

This year’s winners are:
Ashland: Morgan Cottle and Mark Sherbow, Walker Elementary School, for multimedia workstations for student oral history projects.
La Pine: Tim Chase, La Pine Middle School, to incorporate video, blogs and other multimedia technology into math instruction.
Pendleton: Heidi Paullus, Sunridge Middle School, for a mapping project using GPS units, digital cameras and mapping software.
Springfield: (1) Kim Hernandez, Centennial Elementary School, for project to research and map a location for a city skate park.
(2) Ginny Hoke, Thurston High School, for a project to create digital stories of places in Springfield.
