CenturyLink Pioneers Kick Off "Readers For Life" program at Riverside Central School in Rochester

WHAT: The CenturyLink Pioneers, CenturyLink President John Stanoch and Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede hold two special school assemblies at Riverside Elementary school to kick off the “Readers for Life” program.

“Readers for Life” is a CenturyLink Pioneer project designed to help public school teachers and reading specialists secure books for students struggling with reading.  The program provides every child with their own fun-to-read book to take home and help build vocabulary and strengthen reading skills.  Many of the books feature texts in both English and Somali.

The event will also feature special performances by the “Readers Theater.”  The theater group will act out special scenes in both English and Somali.

***Plus, a special appearance by Minnesota Viking’s team mascot Viktor Viking and also Qwest’s mascot Spirit the Dog.

WHEN: Friday, April 11th

Grades 3rd – 5th grades (300 students)
1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Assembly #2
Kindergarten – 2nd grades (340 students)
2:15m. to 2:45 p.m.
