CenturyLink Completes $7.5 Million Idaho Rural Broadband Expansions

Earlier this year CenturyLink completed a two-year project to bring CenturyLink Broadband to 28 new rural communities in Idaho and expand the service in 23 others. In total, CenturyLink invested $7.5 million as a result of the rural broadband matching grant program created by the state legislature in 2006.

“Thousands of rural Idahoans will enjoy the many benefits of a broadband connection because of these deployments,” said Jim Schmit, Qwest’s president for Idaho. “This will mean that businesses and residents can enjoy the benefits of the latest high-speed technology without having to live in a larger town.”

The following communities received CenturyLink Broadband for the first time as a result of the recent investments: Riverside, Robie Creek, Bliss, Castleford, Idaho City, Lapwai, McCammon, Eden, Hazelton, Glenns Ferry, Downey, Inkom, Lewisville, Menan, Hagerman, Roberts, Kooskia, Melba, Nezperce, Firth, Lava Hot Springs, Bancroft, Grace, Cottonwood, Preston, Dayton, Franklin, Thatcher, Murtaugh, Shoshone.

With CenturyLink High-Speed Internet service, residents and businesses can experience a high-speed broadband connection that provides them with immediate access to the Internet and speeds up to 125 times faster than dial-up. CenturyLink is currently offering high-speed Internet service starting as low as $26.99. CenturyLink also outperformed its broadband competitors and now ranks highest in customer satisfaction among high-speed Internet service providers (ISPs) in the West region, as measured by J.D. Power and Associates.
