Arizona Science Center

PHOENIX, AZ – Arizona Science Center is pleased to announce that it is the proud recipient of a $10,000 CenturyLink Foundation Grant to support the Center’s core education School Programs for the 2007-2008 school year.

“Arizona’s public schools are at a critical juncture when it comes to state testing, especially in the area of science education,” said Chevy Humphrey, President and CEO of Arizona Science Center. “Our schools need the ability to expose their students to hands-on and applied science, now more than ever. This grant from the Quest Foundation will be invaluable in this effort.”

Funding will support curriculum-enhanced educational materials, teacher training and hands-on science discovery experience at the Center for more than 130,000 youth and their teachers, including 30,000 at-risk children, across Arizona. Specifically, this grant will go to fund discounted field trips, outreach programs, teacher professional development opportunities, standards-aligned curriculum materials and free admission for at-risk youth.

Arizona Science Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to informal science education. The mission of Arizona Science Center is to inspire, educate and entertain people about science. The Center, located at 600 E. Washington Street in downtown Phoenix, features 300-hands on exhibits, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and a 5-story IMAX theatre.
